Isabel
Hershkowitz, Parent Training Coordinator
Isabel joined the staff at Putnam Independent Living
Services' (PILS) this past October. She took over for Joy Drummond who had been
running the Parent Training and Information Center (PTIC) program for several
years. Thankfully, Joy is not leaving us, but simply reducing her hours in the
pursuit of semi-retirement. Joy will still be available for workshops and to
answer your questions. We cannot thank Joy enough for her many years working
with families throughout New York!
Isabel is a parent of children with special needs, a
graduate of PTIC's Lay Advocacy Advanced Parent Special Education Training
Program, and a CPSE/CSE Parent Member in her home school district. Through the
Parent Training and Information Center, Isabel is available for workshop
presentations and ongoing support for parents of children with special needs,
helping them gain the knowledge they need to be effective advocates for their
children. She is covering seven counties, including: Dutchess, Orange, Putnam,
Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester. She is fluent in Spanish and has
developed workshops and materials for the Latino community. Please click on the
PTIC workshop link to see what we have scheduled in the coming months.
We would LOVE your workshop and training suggestions.
If you have workshop ideas, questions or concerns regarding your child's
education program, please do not hesitate to contact us. Isabel can be reached
via email or phone: (845) 228-7457, ext. 1116, (888) 788-6268, or
ihershkowitz@putnamils.org .
Please join us in welcoming Isabel!!
